![]() Archangel of Death "The world is life, but all things must come to an end." Azrael is perhaps the most accessible of the Archangels. Preferring to work on Earth directly, given his Word, he's always a call away from any of his Servitors. As an Elohite, Azrael prides himself on being one of the most objective of his choir. He insists on absolute objectivity from all his Servitors, Soldiers, and Saints, regardless of their normal resonance. Just the feeling of subjectivity by any of his Servitors while he is around is enough for him to pull you aside and have a long 'chat'. As one of the oldests angels in existance, Azrael took an interest in the end of living beings. Originally, Azrael was a balance to Eli, while one created the other destroyed. When life was spread across the Earth, Azrael was there as well, this time though in a more personal way. The process of death, while it had occurred at times when celestials died in accidents, had never so fascinated him until the Earth was overcome with boundless different types of life. As life ended, Azrael felt the need to help convey those souls who passed on in the Corporeal realm to the Celestial realm. This need to help those passing on is what earned Azrael the distinction of being made an Archangel. He's not alone in his mission to help souls move to their final reward; next to Laurence only, Azrael has the most Saints and Soldiers in his service. Oddly enough, Azrael actually has more Soldiers under his service than Angels. His Soldiers and Saints serve as friends and confidents to those that they are told are about to pass. Dissonance It is dissonant for any Servitor of Azrael to be overly subjective (such as to the point of interferring) with the natural order of death of living beings. If a Servitor does not stop an unnatural death, they also gain a point of dissonance. (A car crash, a piano falling on their head, suicide, or a meteor hitting someone while they sleep, while accidents are all natural deaths and can not be stopped.) Soldiers and Saints of Azrael, though they do not gain dissoance, will find Azrael appearing very angry if he finds out they could have stopped an unnatural death and didn't. Choir Attunements Seraphim A Seraph of Death knows exactly when a person will die naturally and by what means and where through his connection to Azrael's Book of the Dead. Cherubim A Cherub of Death will know an hour in advance if someone they are attuned to will die of unnatural causes and have some idea on how to stop it. Ofanim An Ofanite of Death may add their Corporeal Forces to any roll made to stop someone from dying from unnatural causes. Elohim An Elohite of Death can look at any one person and tell, from their actions to date, where their soul will end up (Heaven or Hell) if they were to die at that moment. Malakim Malakim of Death automatically succeed only when using the Song of Shields to protect someone from an unnatural death. Kyriotate Kyriotates of Death are Azrael's eyes among the living, they may possess as many hosts as their forces times two. This allows them to keep an eye out in all directions to prevent unnatural deaths and help coordinate Soldiers to those who are about to die of natural death. Mercurian A Mercurian of Death generates no dissonance if he has no other choice but to use violence to prevent an unnatural death. Servitor Attunements Winged Deliverance For 1 Essence, a servitor or soldier/saint of Death can generate 'wings' behind them that only the souls they are helping to transition to their final reward, can see. Meant to help ease the trauma of death for humans, this has actually been invoked before a death was certain and the human survived, causing the myth of the Guardian Angel to arise. Celestial Guardian Any servitor of Death with this attunement can cut the disturbance to the Symphony when killing a Demon to less than half it's normal level when working to protect anyone from dying unnaturally. Distinctions Vassal of Death Angels of this rank, like Saminga's Knight of the Dead Distinction, knows immediately how a corpse died, who (if anyone) is responsible, and the means of death if it isn't readily already apparent. Friend of the Ladder The angel will know if a human has had some type of celestial interference in their life, whether keeping them safe or causing them harm in any way. Master of the Final Reward Azrael's Masters know what a person's, who has just died or is about to die, last thought was and what their biggest regret in life was. Relations Azrael retains close ties to Blandine, Eli, and Yves who all help humans to make easier transitions in their final reward. Their very words and actions help humans deal with death. But while he keeps some ties to Gabriel, who serves in some capacity as divine retribution and revenge, Azrael feels she is overly zealous in her methods. Azrael's angels have come into conflict with both Dominic and Jordi constantly. Jordi has repeatedly shown no interest in containing the actions of his angels that result in the death of humans, while Azrael has servitors working to protect both humans and animals. The Archangel of Judgment has begun to keep an wary eye on Azrael and his Servitors. This is due mostly to the fact that Azrael will personally hide Angels who are on the edge of Falling from Dominic's Triads. Azrael quietly conceals them away where his own Servitors and Soldiers can help them back to the fold of Heaven. Allied: Blandine, Eli, Yves Associated: Gabriel Hostile: Dominic, Jordi Basic Rites
