Bands
There are seven major Bands of
Demons-- listed below from most infernal (farthest from humanity) to least
infernal (closest to humanity). Each band has their own Resonance and dissonance.
Any of the minor Bands, such as the Skulkers, in the game may be appable,
but talk to a staff member first
Balseraphs, The Liars
The Fallen version of Seraphim,
Balseraphs no longer see the Truth because they believe the truth is in
the eye of the beholder. They can use their twisted connection with the
Symphony to encourage people to believe their lies. They actually came
to believe their own lies and then their falsehoods are revealed... their
existance begins to unwind as their lies do (they gain Dissonance).
Like their counterparts,
the Seraphim, they appear to be winged serpants. They're always dressed
smartly, caring how they look like as they do their lies.
Balseraphs are Fallen Seraphim.
Djinn, The Stalkers
The Fallen version of the Cherubim.
Instead of their attuned being the most important thing to them, they
need to be the most important thing to their attuned. Ironically, they
still suffer from their original choirs Dissonance, but it has a twist.
They can hurt their attuned with permission from the attuned.
Djinn greatly distrust Shedim,
and vice versa. They're the greatest cynics of all time thanks to pushing
their souls away from the Symphony. In all their forms, they usually appear
dark and/or brooding, and almost always have the hint of violence.
Calabim, The Destroyers
The Fallen Ofanim... instead
of holding all the activity in their bodies like the Ofanim do, the Calabim
force it onto others... causing destruction. However, if an object resists
their Resonance, they take the Dissonance for it. When they use their
Resonance, something breaks: themselves or something else. They're very
good at breaking things in general.
The Calabim are odd even
by the standards of their fellow demons. Every one of them has some form
of Discord, and all of them aim to taking things apart.
Habbalah, The Punishers
What becomes of Elohim when
they Fall is a Punisher. First thing you need to understand about this
Band is that they really believe they are angels... seriously.
Their twisted Resonance is the ability to force an emotion on someone
instead of the empathic nature of their original form. They believe they
are destined by God to weed out the weak for God. Their Dissonance: the
backlash of emotions they receive when their Resonance fails to effect
a target. A side note: they can still use the Resonance of the Elohim...
but its weakened as their own nature of passion gets in the way. Just
remember, that the Habbalah only think they are angels; because of this
they hate being called demons.
Lilim, The Tempters
The Lilim are an interesting
band in the fact that only Lilith can create them. So, they are very few.
Also it should be noted they don't redeem, they simply choose to serve
the side of Heaven and become Bright Lilim.
They are the daughters of
Lilith, the first woman who walked out of Eden and left Adam behind. They
have a natural ability to deal with Needs. If they detect a Need in you
and fulfill it they can later encourage you to do them a favor of equal
value. And value is relative. If a Lilim finds a heart for your dying
daughter, you owe her dearly, and she has a way to hold it over you in
the form of Geas. It's relative to the size of the need she filled.
They get Dissonance anytime someone resists this encouragement. They also
start very indebted to their mother... after all, she provided them with
life.
Lilim have no angelic equivalent.
Shedim, The Corruptors
Perhaps the lowest form of
demon around --even other demons don't like Shedim. These fallen Kyriotates
have lost the power to possess multiple hosts, but can still control one
body. Their Dissonance is the exact oppisite of their original angel form:
every day they must somehow corrupt their host, slowly destroying their
hosts' lives. They see humans as things to be used and discarded, which
ironically puts them at odds with some of the other bands.
Impudites, The Takers
The Fallen Mercurians are perhaps
the nicest people you will meet. They still love humanity like their angelic
brothers but instead of detecting relationship and determines how to make
someone a friend, the Impudites just make friends through the use of Essence.
They also love to steal Essence from humans and they love humans for it.
The Impudites are perhaps
your classic demon-esque figure when in celestial form. They look like
their last vessel with leather wings, a dark halo, and horns, but otherwise
human.
