![]() VI The Outset i) Hello, my name is ii) Filling out the "paperwork" iii) Still more paperwork... iv) The early recordings of Yves v) The waiting game This portion of the Compass of Attunement is working on the assumption that you are creating an original/feature character and not trying for one from the books or one of the Superiors. Hello, my name is One of the first things you need to decide upon before you even create your character is to determine is their race -- angel, demon, remnant, mundane (a regular human), or a spirit, soldier, or undead. If they are a Celestial, the next step is to figure out which Choir or Band they belong to as well as who their Superior is. Depending on your personal character creation process, you can choose a name after deciding on the above or you could work towards the race after choosing the name. Make sure that the name you want isn't already taken by another player. A quick way to check is to do +finger name. While you're in the first char[acter] gen[eration] room, please do the following commands:
The last thing to do in this first room is to answer a simple questionnaire (l[ook] questionnaire) with the following questions:
There is also an object in the room that indicates current overdone concepts, Choirs/Bands, or Superiors. This is to help create a balanced population and offer some variation between how characters can interact ICly. Filling out the "paperwork" This room only has a few short attributes to add before moving on to the more interesting portion of chargen.
A list of Superiors can be accessed in the room by typing +superiors angel or +superiors demons. Still more paperwork... Once you go through the race exit your +sheet will be initialized. If you go back a room, any work you did on your +sheet will be wiped. No, it cannot be recovered. To determine how many CP you have available to "play around with" for your Forces, you must first decide how to divide them. For simplicity sake, we will use an angel (9 Forces total) and divide the Forces equally between the realms -- 3 Corporeal Forces, 3 Ethereal Forces, and 3 Celestial Forces. Each Force is granted four character points, so there are now 12 CP available to divide for each realm -- 36 in total if you're keeping a running tab. Choose how you want to divide each of the "realm" CP between the two corresponding attributes. Corporeal attributes are Strength and Agility, Ethereal are Intelligence and Precision, and Celestial are Will and Perception. The verbal names of the numeric levels can be found in the Mechanics portion of the Compass of Attunement. Using the remaining CP allotted to you, select skills, Songs, and Roles to suit your character's concept. You can add or increase a skill (etc.) by using +raise skill to level, which will add the skill and indicate its cost. If you decide to later (while still in chargen) lower it to regain a few points to spend elsewhere, +lower skill to level will reset it to the given level and refund the difference in points. One point is equal to one level. Before departing this room, don't forget to set +notes to detail the different forms of Songs you know, or listing things like Knowledge (Austin). Each entry must be done individually (eg. +notes Numinous Corpus (Claws), +notes Knowledge (Austin), etc). The early recordings of Yves The last portion of chargen revolves around your character's background. Tell us about your character's history... where they've been, what they've done, and if they've been part of any major events. Entries should be done using +bg_# where # is the "page" of the entire background. You can review what you've put in by using +bg/#. The waiting game After your background is completed, simply type +apply and your application will be put into the queue to be reviewed by staff. It shouldn't take any longer than 48 hours to process an application and to either approve it or reject it with notes on areas of improvement. Previous: The Mechanics
