When:  30 January 2005
Who:  Pan, Remy, Sarah
What:  Sarah, Remy, and Pan meet to discuss a course of action to take regarding Sandra and Christian.

The University

The campus of the University of Texas at Austin stretches over several square miles. The most striking area of the campus is the clock tower, which looms over the rest of the campus and glows depending on when the school wins a victory in something it considers important. The West Mall is also another large part of the campus, housing the school's Union and having an open grassed area in front of it with enough trees to give it suitable shading.

The southwest corner of the campus is where the Harry Ransom Center is. A massive library and archive area that has several rare books and artifacts that make it of special interest to Yves. Finally, the last place of major interest is a Tokamak reactor buried deep beneath the Math and Sciences Building; the reactor a source of constant interest by both servitors of Jean and Vapula.

The Library. Quiet at the worst of times, deserted at the best. Sadly, the general state of study in America is such that the kids aren't in need of a 24-hour repository of the world's written knowledge. Therefore, the Center is currently closed.

Except for the fact that the Center's main librarian (Main mostly because he's always there doing his job) has called two people to come there for MYSTEEEEEERIOUS reasons. Remy stands behind thel ocked door, watching for the arrivals.

The door echoes with a few loud knocks, as the professor of Archaeology named Sarah, dressed in t-shirt and jeans, purse slung over one shoulder, raps loudly on the door. "Remy?" she calls, hopefully just loud enouh to be heard throgh the door. "It's Sarah."

Pan isn't here yet!? Why hasn't she come! She definately wanted to!

A secret ninja shadow slinks in the darkened darkness. It slips closer, and closer towards Sarah, but stays out of sight of the doorway until....

Pan screams, "CONFETTI DAY!!!", stepping into easy viewing as she tosses a bunch of brightly colored paper at Sarah's body. "WooWoo!"

There is movement behind the door, and with a click, the door slides open, revealing Remy standing there in a pool of faint light cast by the flourescent settings farther inside. "Ah good, you've-AAH!" Remy statles as Pan ninjas Sarah with confetti, lurching back slightly... But recovers, looknig at the two with a level gaze. "I would prefer warning next time you wish to do that, Pan. That could cause an accident if you're not careful."

Sarah starts, spinning and letting out a little, surprise scream as Pan ninjas out from behind her and then flings confetti at her. She stares at Pan with the wide, terrified and annoyed eyes of someone who's on edge and has just been scared completely out of their wits. "d...don't DO THAT!" she snaps, then stalks inside, obviously irritated.

Pan giggles, clearly ignorant of whatever the SCARY is. "Please, Remy, you guys need to lighten up or you wouldn't get spooked by play. A warning would ruin the whole point. But whatever, out of confetti anyway, right?", she stuffs her hands in her pocket, still cheerful. There's a Hunt on after all. Hehehee.

Remy smiles. "Yes, Pan. Of course. I'm just feeling a little tense, and it has to do with the reason why I called you both here." He turns, ensuring both are inside before he locks the door once again, and escorts them into the main Library itself, where he sits down at a table. "I'd not have called the both of you at this time if it wasn't important. I have... interesting news."

Sarah, still heaving and obviously just generally upset, stalks inside and takes a seat, still brushing confetti off of herself. She looks up at Remy, frowning. "So do I," she notes, pulling paper out of her hair. "You first, though."

Pan glances to Sarah, looking a little confused before shrugging her shoulders, heading in after Sarah. "Sorry, be considerate The Tyrant says, and so on. Uh. I'm not sure if I have interesting news that you wouldn't know about, Remy, but I can tell you what I was told to do after you guys go."

Remy nods, steepling his fingers. "You might have heard talk about a bag woman roaming the streets of Austin, the rains coming and going as she quietly speaks. Others may talk of the rain she catches in her cup being transformed into a red liquid. I have determined that these rumors are more than likely true, as not only have I witnessed them first-hand, but have also learned something about the woman in question. She calls herself Sandra, but in Truth, she is the lost Remnant of the Archangel Raphael, forgotten and lost to Heaven... And she is in grave danger, as her Fate is drawing near, a Fate that will cause catalysmic reverberations throught the Symphony. This is something we have to prevent at all costs."

Sarah quietly sips at a thermos of coffee she has had in her off hand as Remliel talks.

Then he gets to the part about Remnants, and the coffee goes just about everywhere. "WHAT?!"

Pan gets covered in coffee.

"I-Jhi-Wha-Zh-Go-Bah?" Is her first reply.

She stares at Remy before declaring, "We gotta stop that from happening! She doesn't deserve it! She saved a whole bunch of kids by taking out Legion, and other people too! We were totally panicked at the time, but she saved us, y'know? What do we gotta do, Remy? How the heck did you figure all this out? How much does she remember? Does it have anything to do with that murderer that's about? Who else knows about this?", her mouth continues working after she's done, as if she has even -more- questions, but she apparently can't vocalize them.

The Seraph nods. "You heard me, Sarah. Sandra was Raphael. Pan, do you remember when I fell to the ground when I spoke to her? I had attempted to read her Destiny and Fate, and the force of such a pure, powerful thing struck me to the ground. Her Destiny is to be returned to her former position in Heaven, bringing Knowledge to the Seraphim Council and help them in their work. Her Fate... Is to push a man named Christian over the edge, causing him to be caught and tried. The result of this trial will cause Dominic to Fall, setting into motion events which will lead to Apocalypse. As far as I know, no one else knows this, and Raphael herself does not appear to fully comprehend her situation. And as for the murderer... If it was that man on the street with the dead woman, it could very well be."

Sarah murmurs, "Idunno about any of this...I've been out of the loop." She looks up at Remy, and adds, "But, there's something else. Yesterday - that grand opening thing at the Lux? There was a man there...killing people with Songs, I think." Then she shakes her head. "Dominic himself showed up. Said he was some kind of renegade Saint of Azrael. He might've been the Christian guy you were talking about."

Pan doesn't seem to react to -this- news. She got to hear about The Fall. This is only a rank 7 on the earthquake-meter now in Pan's perception, so she manages to guide her 'ZOMG' into a more subtle reaction. "He is," Pan says softly, "I was told to bring him in, and I work for Children. More related Angels might even have worse in regards to Christian.", she closes her hand. "Remy, Sarah. Part of me finally wants the Apocalypse to come so we can send all of Loserfir's minions to the abyss."

Pan shrugs her shoulders, "Michael's will probably be helping it along. The Judges probably won't listen. To be honest, Remy, it sounds pretty preposterous. And if Dominic finds out, he might Fall anyway at the bloody idea."

Pan rubs at her eyes, "This Christian is already a murderer. He doesn't seem to care about whether he gets caught or not. I hate bringing up all these politics, but this is pretty messy and I don't really know what to do, and I don't know what you want to do, but I'm guessing Yves would want us to protect Christian to protect Dominic, and hopefully everybody can achieve their destiny. And Christian can be... I don't know what. I -could- just try to kill him and save us all the trouble. That would keep Raphael and Dominic from having a chance to fulfil their Fate."

"I have some relics, I can lend them to you for protection if you want too." Pan adds, "But bringing Raphael back to serve Heaven. That'd be really hard. As far as I know, Remnants never made it back to Heaven. Maybe we should ask for Yves' guidance."

Remy rubs his temples, sighing. "So that's what the newspaper article was about..." Opening his eyes, the librarian continues. "The Apocalypse will occur in its own time, as Destiny sees fit. As long as its occurance is a consequence of Fate, I for one will be working to stop it. Christian has to be stopped somehow without triggering this series of events... Guidance would be valuable right now. I admit that I find myself a little overwhelmed at these events, and I would prefer to know the larger picture before acting. However, contacting Yves is difficult, as he is a busy man... Remy considers for a moment. "We can attempt to contact him, even if one of us has to go to Heaven ourselves to do it. I cannot allow this series of events to occur while I have this knowledge... I can only hope I have the ability to go with it. And from all of this, I assume christian managed to escape Dominic in the end?"

"Yeah, thanks to that crazy Hispanic guy who started shooting at Dominic. He must've been a demon; he seemed crazed by the prospect of glory. I'm amazed he still exists." Sarah hums, quietly...obviously troubled, now. "But...wow. We should definitely talk to Yves about this...I just hope we can get his ear before it's too late..."

Pan says, "My Reliquary can give you three essence for it, Remy. It won't care that you're not me," she looks over to Sarah, "Probably the War Faction. Probably War or Hardcore," she giggles a bit before adding, "And you're a Most Holy, so you should ask him too, Remy. I think we could bring him down here. It's worth a shot after all. And we're in a library, it's closed, we have a lot of time till morning. We're in probably the best circumstances to summon him right now. Leaving Earth is my personal last option, because I've got the Center to worry about, and vanishing -that- long is a bit risky.", as she speaks she pulls her reliquary out from under her shirt and sets it on the table.

(It's a pendant of some kind of stone).

Remy nods, picking up the pendant and looking at it in the light. "Very well. I'll see if I can locate some things to help us, and we'll get started." At that, he stands, and begins heading through the library, looking for... something.

Sarah nods quietly, standing up and preparing herself mentally for the ritual - even though physically, she really does not have a whole lot to contribute to this one aside from possibly an attempted invocation of her own, or Essence. She idly looks through the books for something useful, but she suspects Remy's going to find it first - he knows the place better, and has probably been prepared for such an eventuality.

Pan doesn't really help with the searching. She's not technically one of Yves' buddies, after all. Instead, she decides to pray silently to herself, briefly, because SOMEBODY up there better be looking out for them. Hopefully someone who hasn't exactly chatted downstairs much recently.

"Here we are."

Remy arrives, a large tome grasped in his hands with the pendant dangling from his fingers. Upon the spine, the words 'ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA' are clearly visible, though partially obscured by the Seraph's hand. He sets the book down upon the table, and opens it to a random page. "Let's begin." Bending his head and closing his eyes, he clasps the pendant between his hands, drawing the Essence from the object as well as his own. Quietly, he sends out the call, beseeching his master to come to their aid... And then releases the Essence, the Symphony reverbrating with the force of the outflow as the call is augmented and amplifed by the additional energy.

Sarah breathes in, eager to see if it works, tense at the sensations in the air - and wondering what they'll do if Yves does not dein to answer their calls.

Pan looks up, and around, and fidgets uncomfortably, rubbing the back of her right hand with her left.

Remy remains still for several moments, concentrating, hoping...

And after a little longer, the Seraph's shoulders slump slightly, his eyes opening as his expression turns slightly downcast. "Hmm... It seems that our call won't be answered." Looking to the others, Remy nods. "However, even without guidance, we can still act. The Lord helps those who help themselves."

Pan nods to Remy, "That's true," her shoulders slumping briefly before she takes her pendant back and hides it, "There are many reasons he could have for not answering. Perhaps we have all the information we need. As it is, he was last seen at the Lux, maybe he returned to the scene of the crime. It's our only real lead as far as I know.", Lux means Light. And Pan highly doubts the establishment is aptly named. "If he didn't answer, it's probably a good thing. That's how he is.", she composes herself for a moment before stepping towards the doorway.

Sarah heaves a heavy sigh...then nods at Pan. "Good idea. Let's go get changed into more appropriate attire, it's kind of upscale. Meet you there in twenty?"

Pan stammers, "Uh, oh right, it is? Uh, I mean, right. I can do that. Sure. Sarah, I'm your daughter if anybody asks, okay?", and with that she darts out before Sarah can say 'No'.

Remy nods, and stands. "It's the best lead we have. Let's go." At that, Remy heads for the door, letting Sarah exit before locking up the Center.
