When:  3 February 2005
Who:  Pan, Remy, Sarah, Yves (NPCed)
What:  Whisked away to the Library by Yves, our intrepid angels finally meet with the Archangel of Destiny - and begin to plan.

The Library

An unassuming, simple door located in the Eternal City's center leads to the gargantuan collection of Yves's Library. The general host of Heaven are typically granted access to the self-aware library's resources only after stating their purpose, and even then, it could take upwards of nine days for an average search -- shorter if it will help a human achieve its destiny -- due to the infinite nature of the endless, twisting corridors of books, video, and other media. The library protects itself against theft, dumping book swipers into unsavory corporeal, or even infernal, collections -- without the purloined volume.

For some time, the angels have been taking advantage of the time waiting for Yves to meet with them. Being productive sorts, Remliel, Sarah, and Panacea have been searching through the stacks of books for information on Azrael and specifically his Saints. Even more specifically, Christian. After all, they still have work to do, waiting or no waiting.

Sarah, for her part, is standing toward one side of the aisle, flipping through a book. She hrms at the tome in her hand - for she is indeed the only one here who /has/ hands - as she scans its contents rapidly. "I don't see much," she says toward Remliel in the Celestial tongue. "Bits and pieces, yeah, but..not enough to tell me anything useful about all this. Are you two having any better luck?"

Panacea, well, okay. She got a little bored with reading and hasn't exactly been the most studious of servitors here. She probably has 'ran around' Remy and Sarah a few times. Each. And she searches on Raphael in particular. Truth be told, she's willing to blow up Christian to save Raphael -and- Dominic. But killing people isn't something to do lightly, even if she remarks on it lightly. Every so often she stops for a whirr around the room, but she always returns to mess with another book.

The door to one of the nearby rooms down one of the corridors of the Archive opens and closes quietly, the quiet form of Yves, even here an older gentleman, walks down toward the trio of researchers. Nodding politely at a few of his Servitors who are busily toilling away at the books here, he rounds the edge of one bookshelf and finds himself facing the three. "Remliel, Sarah, Panacea," he says in greeting, waiting.

At Yves' greeting, Remliel puts down the book he was looking at, sliding it back into the shelf with a deft movement of his wingtips. Floating downwards, the Seraph bows in respect to his Superior. "Greetings, Yves."

Sarah blinks up as Yves walks in, and likewise moves over and replaces a book before returning to 'groundlevel'. She too bows respectfully, and offers a similarly respectful "Hello, Yves," to her Superior.

Panacea twists around a bit, looking as nervous as someone without a face can be. But she seems happy-nervous, since Yves is totally awesome. "Hey there, Yves." She says, wobbling respectfully, though casually. "Hope you didn't mind us taking a look around."

"Not at all, the Library is open to all whom wander in search of Knowledge." Quite literally, if you're wandering and not paying attention, you could end up here in the laybrinth of the Library. Yves puts his hands in his pockets, a smile across his face, "Remliel, you had a few questions?"

Remy nods. "Yes. We had found the Remnant of Raphael, and she is in great danger. Her Destiny is bright, but her Fate equally dark. We are seeking guidance in the best manner to deal both with assisting her in reaching her Destiny, and also dealing with the fallen Christian to both stave off this Fate which could lead to the Apocalypse itself."

Panacea elaborates, "Rem' said that her Fate was, uh, 'sending Christian over the brink' and her Destiny was actually returning to Heaven in her former post. That's gotta be possible if it's a Destiny, right?", she seems to relax considerably, and actually seems a bit 'chirpy'.

Sarah nods quietly, looking at the others before turning her eyes back to Yves. "That's...about the size of it. All I can pitch in is that I've actually seen Christian...the only reason Dominic doesn't have him right now is some lunatic demon of Hardcore with a gun and a mind for glory."

There's a stunned silenced in the Library after the three explain things. The few Servitors of Destiny nearby to overhear have stopped what they're doing, the Remnant of Raphael is something only rumoured to exist... to have found it... is a startling revelation. And the fact that three people are confirming it. Yves seems silent for a long moment, "Once, a century ago, I ran into the woman you speak off. She disappeared before my grasp, before anything could be done to help her. Her Destiny has always been one of the brightest of the Host. Her Fate..." His voice trails off, obviously going to be short. "Remliel, Sarah, Panacea. You must find her, protect her from the forces currently at work in Austin. And /keep/ her from Christian. His Fate and Destiny... will bring ruin to the Best of Us." And with that, Yves disappears. Vague, as always.

And in the fading form of Yves, another flash reaches out, sending the three of you back to Austin.

Magna Veritas Bookstore

The inside of the building can be described as 'cozy'. Others might call it a bit cramped. The walls are paneled in dark wood, lending an appearance of age, as ornate lamps hang from the ceiling in just such a way as to provide excellent lighting in all areas, with no excessive amounts of shadow. Lines of bookshelves run the length of the building, laden with a variety of types of books. In the rear of the building is the counter, where there is a cash register and a locked door heading into a back room. Beside the counter is a small table with several chairs, perfect for a bit of reading if one is so inclined.

An empty bookstore, purchased quietly some time ago. Signs of remodeling are present here and there, and the angels all reappear right in the middle of it, perfectly safe and sound. Remy looks back and forth, nodding to the others. "Well, we have recieved what guidance we can, now we need to begin out duties."

Pan nods to Remy, frowning, "Didn't get much of it. I mean, we knew Christian's Fate and De-", she pauses, "Wait. Did he say that?", she glances around, looking uncertain, "I didn't just have a brain-blorf or something, did I? How can Destiny do bad stuff?"

"Destiny," Sarah replies to Pan, looking herself over just to make sure she's still as stylin' as a Mercurian ought to be (and also so she doesn't have to put too much thought into the facts of what she has to say), "is what's best for the Symphony, and for the person who bears it. It's not...necessarily always good for /absolutely everyone/." She finishes her examination, and frowns, looking uneasy. "But for Fate /and/ Destiny to bring disaster? That's an uneasy thought."

"We have several problems. First of all, not only do we need to keep Christian away from Sandra, but also from Judgement. It might not make Sandra meet her Fate, but if Dominic Falls, it will still be a catastrophe." Remy frowns. "Our optimal solution, then, would be to put Christian out of the reach of both Sandra and Judgement." The librarian looks over to Sandra, a measuring, sad look in his eyes.

Pan says, "Sandra, for the short term, is easy. But -Dominic-, haha-No." There is no humor in Pan's laugh. She cracks her knuckles thoughtfully before mumbling, "So, like, do we serve the Symphony or do we serve Everyone? I thought the Symphony -was- what everyone was, y'know, for. But...rgh, this just isn't right either way. I can only think of two ways to settle this, and one is practically impossible, and the other... Well maybe -reincarnation- but..."

Sarah catches Remy's gaze, and nods, face marked with a similarly sad expression.

"But he's a saint," she notes, subdued. "That would require..."

She makes a vague gesture that is intended to suggest the magnitude of the task at hand without actually saying the words, but may or may not succeed.

She pauses, then, leaving that thought hanging. "Remy? Do we know what Christian's Destiny is?" she asks.

"Death. The irony is not lost on me." Remy sighs, shaking his head. "I don't know his Destiny or Fate. Given the magnitude of what we are dealing with though, I wouldn't be surprised if they were related to Sandra or Dominic. We'll need to take steps." He rubs his chin. "I'll have to find out Christian's Destiny and Fate. Pan, Sarah... I need both of you to go to Fado's Pub as soon as possible. If we need to resort to killing Christian, it would be best for War to get involved."

Pan says, "Uh, no offense, but War might not..uh... want to help us out.", she shrugs her shoulders, "I'm a former Stoney though. I'm most likely to get along with 'em, I can probably get their help. I'm not gonna say 'This is for Dominic' though, they don't like him either." She kicks the ground a bit, "Sheesh, they really are kinda stubborn and annoying sometimes.", she shrugs her shoulders, "I know another Stony here, and a Soldier of -Lawrence-. His name is Keitaro, nicknamed Oz. But I don't wanna use a soldier because he's good at killing hoo-mans."

"War might want the Apocalypse to start, too," Sarah notes. "All the militant types might...and we /need/ militant types to do the deed. This is tricky. I...I /really/ don't want to kill him!" She sighs, heavily. "But...we may have to." She looks up at Remy. "We'll talk to War. But at the same time, Remy, if you can /find/ him, I need you to read his Destiny and Fate ASAP. Maybe then we can start to unravel this mess...and maybe we'll find another way."

Pan says, "-I- am a militant type. I can punch people and hurt them. I am very good at not being hit, but I don't know his songs, and that's where the worry comes in. I'm not very well-prepped on that front, but the more warriors we get the better. We wouldn't want him to spli...t.. Rrgh. I can't believe we're planning this."

Remy shrugs. "I never said to TELL them it would start if we failed." Remy sighs. "I hate manipulation. It smacks of lying, but it's a necessary thing for us." He glances back to Pan. "Actually... I have another idea. Pan. You go talk to Tyrr at Fado's." He turns back to Sarah. "And you, Sarah... I want you to start trying to work out where Sandra is hidden. We need to keep an eye on her... And if possible, try to help he achieve her Destiny."

Sarah looks at Pan, sighing heavily. "This is the part of the Destiny gig we don't like to talk about," she confesses, before glancing over at Remy. "Alright. I'll try and find her. Wonder if I can find Alexander...he could probably find her..." Then she frowns, deeply, thought creasing her brow. "But...but how are we gonna help her achieve her Destiny, Remy? I want it as desperately as you, but...but /how/?"

Remy rubs his chin. "I've never heard of a Remnant being restored before. Especially not that of a former Archangel. If you find Sandra, it might be a good idea to call Yves. This is probably something out of the realm of our power. Another option would be to try to take her to Heaven yourself, but I'm not sure if that's possible."

"To be fair, Archangels, well, there aren't many Remnant Archangels. First one I've heard about, to be honest, so maybe it's different for them than a different Angel. Who knows? Either way, Yves didn't say he'd be able to help it come to pass eith-..er. She seems to be a little grumpy too. I am not sure how much I can hold back from the Warriors." Pan practically babbles. This is so -weird-.

"I doubt I can, Remy," Sarah notes. "Remnant's celestial aspects have been obliterated - it's why they're Remnants in the first place. You're right...Yves may be the only one we have access to who can help with this..."

Remy nods again. "Then we'll work with that. In that case, we'll split up for now and begin pursuing our leads. If any of you find Sandra or Christian, let the others know. I bought this building a while ago, but don't have it ready for use yet. I'll let you all know when I have it ready for my change in career."
